A child who snores and sleeps often badly it affects his behavior: his breathing is difficult, he pauses in breathing with a loud recovery, his sleep is restless, the awakenings are common, while the morning awakening is difficult, he tend to re-wet the bed, etc.. Conversely, in the day, he is drowsy, tired, or very agitated or hyperactive, he is irritable, aggressive, unsociable, with impaired concentration, memory and learning difficulties, sometimes sudden. One can also see that development is slowed to thrive. Very frequently, too, the child has an obstruction and has a strong tendency to breathe through the mouth.
Snoring problem often come from large adenoids blocking more or less the back of the nose, tonsils or highly developed, more or less closing the pharynx.
In 10% of cases, this surgical procedure does not solve the problem, the child still snoring, it still manifests a sleep apnea syndrome and suffers.

It is then necessary to make a polysomnography: for a whole night, there are numerous parameters that characterize sleep: respiratory rate, heart rate, brain waves, muscle activity, etc.. Of course, this recording of sleep also provides information on the characteristics of pauses in breathing (frequency, duration …). When the number of apneas exceeds 30 per night (7 hours a night), treatment is needed, which is based on continuous positive airway pressure. During the night, the child wears a mask that breathes of oxygen to keep the airway open well. This equipment is sometimes difficult night to bear, especially for a child.
More rarely, the snoring is caused by an abnormal oral and facial surgery that can correct.
In conclusion, the snoring of a child may simply be due to an infection of the nasal passages.
